# Custom token payments: bring your own ERC-20, BEP-20 or TRC-20 token

> The platform supports a fixed list of assets. If your token isn't on it, you can ask for it to be added to your account — you supply the chain and the contract address, and we read everything else from the chain.

## Once your token is approved

> **How a custom token differs.** Once a token is approved and active you can accept it and withdraw it. Because the platform has no price feed for it, three things differ from a standard asset: invoices are in token units rather than fiat, the fee is a flat USD amount paid from your fee wallet, and there is no network fee.

A token only becomes usable at its activation time, a couple of minutes after approval, and is watched from then on with no backfill — never send anything to a deposit address before it shows as active. Request the token early so review is done before you launch, and ask connect@payaries.com if you have questions.

## How to request a token

Custom tokens are requested from your merchant dashboard. You provide where the token lives — the chain and the contract address — and optionally a symbol and a note for the reviewer.

| Network | Token standard |
|---|---|
| Ethereum mainnet | ERC-20 |
| BNB Smart Chain | BEP-20 |
| Tron mainnet | TRC-20 |

Bitcoin has no tokens. The symbol, name and decimals are read from the chain itself — anything you type for them is ignored, because wrong decimals would silently misprice real money.

The contract is checked on-chain before anything reaches a person. A request is refused straight away if there is no contract at that address or it doesn't expose a readable symbol and decimals, if it's already a built-in asset, or if you already have a request for it.

## From request to approval

| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | With our team for review. |
| Needs info | A reviewer asked you a question; your reply puts it back in the queue. |
| Approved | Registered on the platform, with an internal asset ID. Active about two minutes after approval. |
| Declined | Not approved, with a reason. You may submit it again after fixing what was wrong. |
| Cancelled | You withdrew the request while it was pending or waiting on you. |
| Disabled | An admin switched an approved token off, with a reason. Payments already in flight are still tracked. |

You're emailed when a request is received, when more information is needed, and when it is approved, declined, disabled or re-enabled. A decline or a disable always includes the reason.

## What reviewers decline

Reviewers look for tokens that are unsafe to hold:

- contracts that impersonate a well-known token — a fake "USDT";
- tokens whose transfers can be blocked or reversed by their issuer;
- fee-on-transfer or rebasing tokens, where the amount received differs from the amount sent;
- contracts that can be upgraded to change behaviour.

A note saying who issues the token, a block explorer link and what it's for makes a decision faster.

## Scope and limits

- An approval is for your account only. Another merchant who wants the same token submits their own request.
- A token is watched from approval onward with no backfill. Never send anything to a custom token's deposit address before it shows as active — earlier transfers are not scanned for.
- You can have up to five requests awaiting a decision at once.

## Questions

**Can I accept my own token as payment with Payaries?**
Yes, once your token is approved and active. You request it, we review the contract, and after approval you can create invoices in it (priced in token units, since there is no fiat rate) and withdraw it. The fee is a flat USD amount paid from your fee wallet, and there is no network fee.

**Which token standards can I request?**
ERC-20 on Ethereum, BEP-20 on BNB Smart Chain and TRC-20 on Tron. Bitcoin has no tokens.

**What information do I need to provide?**
The chain and the contract address. The symbol, name and decimals are read from the chain itself; a symbol you type is used only as a cross-check for the reviewer.

**If another merchant gets a token approved, can I use it?**
No. An approval applies to the requesting merchant's account only. You submit your own request.
