Gas station: how network fees work on token payments

Moving USDT costs gas in a different coin — TRX, ETH, BNB. Where the gas station is on, Payaries pays that gas and recovers it inside the transaction, so your wallet never needs to hold it.

01The problem it removes

Every on-chain transfer burns the network's native currency. For a token like USDT that means a merchant who only ever receives stablecoins still has to keep some TRX, ETH or BNB in each Payaries wallet, or sweeps and withdrawals fail. It is a chore that has nothing to do with taking payments.

02How it works

  • Payaries pays the gas from its own gas-station wallet when a deposit is swept or a withdrawal is sent.
  • The cost comes back as a network fee deducted inside the transaction — from a withdrawal's amount, or from a deposit's credit.
  • It is quoted in the asset you move (USDT, not TRX), fixed when the withdrawal is created or the deposit is credited, and shown separately as networkFeeAmount.
  • Where gas is cheap — Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain at today's prices — Payaries absorbs it and the fee is shown as Included (networkFeeAmount is "0").

03Small payments and minimums

A payment smaller than its own network fee can't be swept profitably, so chains where Payaries pays the gas carry minimums. Invoice minimums currently default to 30 USD on Tron, 25 USD on Ethereum, and 5 USD on each of BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Arbitrum; they are adjustable, so read the live value from the BELOW_MINIMUM_INVOICE error rather than hard-coding it.

  • A deposit's network fee is capped at half of what is left after the platform fee, so a small payment always credits something.
  • A withdrawal too small to cover its fees is refused up front with AMOUNT_TOO_SMALL_FOR_NETWORK_FEE and the minimumAmount to retry with. Nothing is charged on a guess — if the fee can't be priced you get 503 NETWORK_FEE_UNAVAILABLE.
  • If the station is paused or low, a withdrawal waits in processing and goes out when it is funded. It waits up to 24 hours; only then does it fail and release your reserved balance.

04A Tron detail worth knowing

On Tron with the gas station on, commissions are collected in periodic batches to save gas. The commission part of a deposit can sit in your wallet for up to a day before it is swept out, so a wallet's on-chain balance can be slightly higher than your ledger total — never lower. It is Payaries's money and never part of your available balance.

Questions

Do I need TRX, ETH or BNB to withdraw USDT with Payaries?
Not on a chain where the gas station is on: Payaries pays the gas and recovers it as a network fee inside the transaction. Where it is off, your own Payaries wallet needs a little of the chain's native currency. Check gasSponsored on the wallet to see which applies.
How do I know what the network fee was?
Each withdrawal and credited deposit shows it separately as networkFeeAmount, in the asset that moved. It is zero where Payaries absorbs the gas.
